Suncoast Sierra Club Upcoming Events

January 18, 7 p.m. at Moccasin Lake Park, Clearwater - The Call for Global Healing. Dr. David W. Randle will speak on the ethical implications of the World Summit on Sustainability Implementation Plans. The Call provides people of a variety of faith traditions a starting point to work in partnership with other segments of society to integrate peace, justice and sustainability together in one program of ethical consideration for public policy decisions for local, national, regional and international government decisions. Since this Call some 40 NGO's have come together to partner to implement to call to Global Healing including four projects in Africa. This meeting is free and open to the public. February 15, 7 p.m. at Moccasin Lake Park, Clearwater - Sandra Diaz will speak about mountaintop removal and coal mining in the mountains of Central Appalachia. Slide show presentation, interviews with residents and Appalachian music with the presentation. Learn how you can help stop the destruction of our nation's oldest mountains and the people and culture of Appalachia. This meeting is free and open to the public. February 24 and 25, Suncoast Sierra Club Retreat and Social - Join other Sierra club members for a fun weekend at Chassahowitzka. Newbies and prospective members welcome. Events include paddling, bicycling, potluck dinner, a campfire and other area attractions. Accommodations include cottage, tent camping or hotel. Early RSVP is required for overnight stay.
