As Phase I of Beach Walk construction continues, Hamden Drive is closed at Gulfview Boulevard. The utility work in that area should be complete by the end of this week so that Hamden Drive should reopen on Friday, Jan. 19. The 16-inch water main will be operational in several days, and chlorination/pressure testing will follow. When certification is obtained from the State Department of Health, it will be placed into service.
On Coronado Drive, curb formwork is complete, and curbs are being poured. Because the underground utility work required a larger excavation than was originally anticipated, the existing curb was damaged, making this work necessary. The west side of Coronado Drive, from Gulfview to Hamden, is scheduled for paving Jan. 29. Progress Energy installed street lighting on the west side of Coronado Drive between Third and Fifth streets. All work on Coronado Drive will be complete by the end of February.
