Family Reading Parties Sponsored by Target Grant

The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative and The Florida Partnership for Family Involvement in Education are now offering family reading parties! Through the generosity of a Target literacy grant, the Born to Read program will be presenting Family Reading Parties at local public libraries and Born to Read community partners, including the teen parenting program provided through Pinellas County Schools. Much like popular home décor and kitchenware parties, Family Reading Parties allow parents to learn about reading in a fun, relaxed environment. The hosting site chooses one of three different themed parties: How to Read with Your Child, Choosing a Book for Your Child, or Building Blocks for Reading. Each family will receive tip sheets for helping their children read, a riddle book for grade school students, a make and take family craft, and a developmentally appropriate book for each child! These interactive hour long workshops are for families of children of all ages.
