CLEARWATER - Chapel-By-The Sea's "Non-Trivial Pursuits" winter/spring adult education series begins on Monday, January 29, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., with "What Would You Like to Know About Our Past Presidents?" With President's Day right around the corner in February, the Chapel is honored to have as its January 29th speaker Fred Farrar, Professor Emeritus in Communications at Temple University, who has an impressive background in history and journalism. He currently teaches courses at USF as well as Elderhostel courses in History, biography, and rare publications at Eckerd College. He has served as a trustee of the St. Petersburg History Museum.
Professor Farrar has had a life-long passion for history and a joy in sharing his knowledge with others. He will bring original newspaper election returns from 1789 to the present and retell stories behind intriguing newspaper headlines from the earliest days to the Truman years (thus avoiding controversy over any recent office-holders!).
