Crime Prevention Meeting for Seniors

CLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater Police Department and the Parks and Recreation Department will hold a crime prevention meeting for seniors at the Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road in Clearwater on February 7 at 10 a.m.

Crime Prevention Officer Scott Ballard will inform participants about a group of criminals who knock on the doors of Clearwater residences asking to use the telephone. If the homeowner allows them entry into their home, they may become a victim of a crime. Officer Ballard will discuss ways to avoid falling prey to these swindlers and other effective crime prevention techniques.

"Clearwater is a wonderful place to live but residents should be informed of ways to remain safe," said Kerry Kimball Marsalek, City of Clearwater Office on Aging. Admission is free. To register call Dawn at 793-2320 ext. 227.
