TAMPA - It's going to be a World of Whimsy when hundreds of local quilt artists hang their works of art. It's all part of the Quilters' Workshop of Tampa Bay premier quilt show - and 17th annual quilt weekend on Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17, at The Salvation Army Worship Center (across from Lowry Park) 1100 W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa. Quilt show hours are: Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is $6, parking is free.
The year's theme for the 2007 show is WOW! World of Whimsey. This is the Tampa Guild's third consecutive 'judged' show. NQA (National Quilting Association) certified judge, Lorraine Covington, will review the show in advance of display and select winners from 10 categories for First, Second and Third Place. She will also select winners of six Special Awards. Quilts not submitted for judging will also be on display.
Featured will be a Vendors' Mall of 20 shops, a Tea Room for lunch, the Quilters' Workshop Boutique of hand made gift items, demonstrations and door prizes, a drawing for an Opportunity Quilt on Saturday, and book signings by children's author Marcia Layton and historical novelist Ed West. Teddy Pruett, Certified Quilt Appraiser, historian and Florida quilting personality, will be available to provide written and verbal appraisals of your quilts for a fee.
