Clearwater to Host Italian-American Festival This Weekend

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department and The Italian-American Woman of Today will host the 4th Annual San Gennaro Festa, Feb. 10 and 11 at Coachman Park, 301 Drew St. This two-day event celebrates Italian culture and heritage by featuring traditional Italian artisans and live music. Attendees will be able to participate in grape stomping, bocci ball, cannoli and meatball eating contests. The event will also include a celebration of the Patron Saint of Naples, San Gennaro.

The $3 donation per person to attend the event, which runs from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, will help several charities that Le Italo-Americane Di Oggi, LIADO, supports, including cancer research, All Children's Hospital, local schools and scholarships in Pinellas County. Terry Schmidt, special events producer for the City of Clearwater said, "We are thrilled to have this event for the first time in the Clearwater. It is a celebration of family, food and fun and a great addition to the rich events offered by the city."

The headlining entertainment for both nights of the event is Sonny Geraci and the Outsiders, "Time Won't Let Me," "Precious and Few." Other performances during the event will include John and Mary K. Wilson, Tarantella Dancers, Dino Diliberti, opera performers and many others.
