Paradise Lost?

LARGO - At Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive in Largo, join environmental historian Dr. Jack E. Davis of the University of Florida on Thursday, February 15, at 7 p.m. in Room B of the library's Jenkins Community Wing, as he presents Paradise Lost? Thinking About Florida's Environmental History. Davis explains that the enduring struggle that has shaped Florida's past has not been between human groups, but between humans and the environment. Davis discusses the natural side of the human saga in Florida's history from the earliest land dwellers to the most recent land developers. Davis argues that promoting a historical memory of Florida with nature at its center becomes increasingly important as our culture retreats deeper into air-conditioned, artificial spaces. This Florida Humanities council presentation is free and open to the public. Call the library at 587-6715 ext. 2514 to register.
