Bloodletting at the Renaissance Festival

His Majesty the King bids that his faithful subjects participate in the act of bloodletting during the Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI. He hath decreed that Florida Blood Services bloodletting carriages be stationed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in front of the village gates, on the weekends of Saturday and Sunday, February 17 and 18, and February 24 and 25, in the year of our Lord 2007.

The new site for the 26th Annual Bay Area Renaissance Festival is on the grounds next to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), in Tampa, located at 4801 East Fowler Avenue.

His Majesty, in his beneficence, will provide a writ for a FREE Renaissance Festival admission to all blood donors. The vampirish Florida Blood Services will adorn all bloodletters with a "Bloodletting" garment and measure their cholesterol.

Healthy noblemen and women, knights, serfs and peasants, age 16 years or more, who are at least 110 pounds in stone weight, are encouraged to be bled. Proper identification is required. Questions can be answered by ringing 1-800-68-BLOOD.

For those unable to donate blood, contributions may be mailed to Florida Blood Services Foundation, 10100 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33716, or submitted on-line at www.bloodrelief.org.

Ye olde Florida Blood Services provides blood to patients in need at 38 hospitals throughout the realm. This is done through the gracious and painless giving of subject who pledge to give their blood for the cause, rather than have the King take it!

Further enlightenment about the blood supply can be found at www.fbsblood.org.
