The Casino SPECKtacular under the ownership of Sue and John Speck made a grand opening on Saturday, February 17th on Island Estates. Actually, the Speck home was converted into a casino for one night by the Men's Event Committee who assembled a "Viva Lost Vegas" party for the Island Estates Yacht Club.

Two blackjack tables, a roulette table, and a Texas Hold'em Poker table provided by Danmar Productions and manned by professional dealers made the action fast and fun with everyone winning a great time. Sixty-five members and guests were given vouchers for $5,000 in chips to begin the night.

This event was the annual bash entirely planned and presented by the male members of the Island Estates Yacht Club. A buffet dinner was prepared and served by chef extraordinaire, Tom Fazzina, with all refreshments including beer and wine included in the price of admission.

The core planning committee for this event was chaired by Bill Blum with intellectual input from Tom Fazzina, Bob Landreth, Ed Ziegler, and Mason Rascher. Setup and cleanup support was provided by Commodore Tom Smith, George Powers, Frank Dame, Jim Ostrosky and Wayne Millington.
