The Gazette's article of February 22nd entitled "Indian Rocks Beach City Commission Confronts Issues," concludes with "…and most everyone believes some changes are necessary at IRB City Hall." Who IS this "most everyone" to which you refer? Is it those who have "used" important issues that face our City as a means of bolstering their own election dreams? Is it the group of people who have run for commission and mayor more than once, only to realize they can't get elected "Dog Catcher" because most IRBers see right through them?
As someone who has absolutely no desire to run for office in IRB or anywhere else for that matter, I am sick to my stomach at the thought of the "last regime" returning to power in IRB. Don't get me wrong, I rather enjoy having these "wannabees" hanging around on the periphery spreading rumors and leveling ludicrous charges, but seating them on the podium at City Hall is quite another issue. Their insistence we vote for "their puppets" simply because we "need new blood" or because of their gender, or maybe even because the commission meetings are too long (wah…wah) is insulting at best. I am counting on the voters in IRB to come through, once again. Our folks have an uncanny knack of wading through the bull and coming up with the best answer. Probably the added sunshine from lack of tall buildings…who knows.
