On March 13, 2007, voters of Belleair Beach should vote "Yes" in favor of contracting police services with another law enforcement agency.
Why?
1. Current Belleair Beach police budget is $598,944. The Sheriff's Department proposed price will save Belleair Beach taxpayers over $200,000 a year.
2. If police services are contracted through the Sheriff's Department, the Belleair Beach Police Officers Pension Plan will not be necessary, it will be terminated as a Belleair Beach expense.
3. The Sheriff's Office will provide one (1) officer 24 hours per day, seven days a week assigned exclusively to Belleair Beach.
4. The majority of Belleair Beach police support the change of police services.
5. Belleair Beach taxpayers simply should not continue to have one of the highest cost per capita of any community in Florida for law enforcement. Change is needed.
