Beach Walk Construction Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Work on Phase II of Beach Walk is underway. The north end of South Gulfview Boulevard is closed, starting at the intersection with Coronado Drive and going south to just past the Hyatt property. Traffic heading south from the roundabout uses Coronado Drive. When traffic reaches Fifth Street, Fifth Street is open so that drivers can turn west to reach South Gulfview Boulevard. Local traffic can go north on South Gulfview Boulevard to access the North Gulfview Parking Lot and businesses. All businesses are accessible. Traffic can also go south on South Gulfview Boulevard from there to Sand Key and South Beach. Those coming from Sand Key and South Clearwater Beach who are heading north should take Hamden Drive to Coronado Drive, and then take Coronado Drive to the roundabout. Police and Traffic Engineering are watching the intersection of Fifth Street and Coronado Drive to monitor traffic flow.

A temporary attendant parking lot with 67 spaces is open on the Patel property, 100 Coronado Drive. The Pier 60 parking lot, with 221 spaces, is now closed and will be closed for three to four months. The North Gulfview parking lot, with 243 spaces, is open and will stay open during this time. On April 1, 36 more temporary metered parking spaces will be available, south of the attendant lots off Coronado, also on the Patel property. To access the new attendant parking spaces on the Patel property, take Coronado Drive and turn west on First Street. Signs are posted to guide pedestrians to the beach from these lots. There are also 24 metered parking spaces available at 212 Hamden Drive.

There is one lane open for traffic on Hamden Drive between Coronado Drive and South Gulfview Boulevard. Crews are finishing curbs and driveways along this stretch of the road. This work will take approximately two weeks.
