I have lived in Largo for 40 years, so have seen many commissioners come and go . In the past few years of Steve Stanton`s position as City Manager, I truly believe that some of the commissioners have become unhappy with some of the actions that Mr. Stanton has taken, especially when he has taken it upon himself to carry out various activities that these commissioners had not been privy to in advance.
I truly do not believe Mr. Stanton`s decision to change his gender was the reason they voted against him, but rather they thought this was a good opportunity to relieve him of his position. I believe that many of the Commissioners were not too happy with some of his policies, and if they had spoken against him they would have had a difficult time keeping a beneficial, working relationship with him. Most of the public have no idea as to what actually happens between the City Manager and the commissioners!
