The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative's Deaf Literacy Center will host the DeafARTS Festival funded by a grant from Target. The program will be presented at the St. Petersburg College Clearwater Campus (2456 Drew Street) on Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m.
Special Guests will include Chris Wagner, President of the Florida Association of the Deaf and Chuck Baird, internationally known Deaf artist, painter and designer. Mr. Baird was the official curator of DeafWay II art exhibitions at Gallaudet and in the Washington DC area. He and other local artists in the areas of visual, literary and performing arts will facilitate interactive arts workshops with Deaf children.
The Festival will showcase the art work by local Deaf artists and children throughout the event. Guests will also have an opportunity to see live performances in the areas of signed storytelling, theater skits and music.
