Grant Helps Largo Police Increase Visibility Along the Clearwater/Largo Road Corridor

LARGO - An $18,000 Justice Assistance Grant was awarded to the Largo Police Department and will be used to increase police visibility along the Clearwater/Largo Road corridor. Officers targeting this area will be in uniform and on foot or riding police mountain bikes. As a result of this grant, resources will not have to be utilized from the patrol divisions day to day responsibilities of responding to calls for service or self initiated activity. The main focus in targeting the Clearwater/Largo Road corridor is to reduce crime, improve relationships with the citizens and businesses, and to gather intelligence in an attempt to better respond to the community's present and future needs.

Under this grant, officers started the high visibility patrols of the Clearwater/Largo Road corridor March 29. Each patrol assignment will be strategically timed and include three officers and one sergeant.
