On March 2 the Belleair Women Republicans Club hosted a gala fashion show and fundraiser, America the Beautiful.
The group raised about $1,500 which will be used to support Republican candidates throughout the year. Fashionable garments for ladies from the Dress Barn and gentlemen's sport and formal wear from S & K Men's Fashions were modeled by elected officials, club members and their husbands.
Models were recruited by club member Frankie Bennett and included Diane Nelson, Pinellas County Tax Collector, Ken Burke, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Cat Coats wife of Sheriff Jim Coats and Jim Frische, District 54 Florida House Representative. Former Speaker Pro Tem of the Florida House, Leslie Waters, provided witty political commentary as the fashions were modeled for club members and guests.
The venue for the show was the Wine Cellar restaurant located in Redington Beach. Retro music was provided by the band, Memories.
