Audubon Society " Conservation Through Education"

Clearwater Audubon Society meetings take place on the first Monday of the month at the Moccasin Lake Nature Park Education Center, 2750 Park Trail Lane, Clearwater, from October through May. Programs are free and open to the public and are intended to be both entertaining and educational. Programs begin at 8 p.m. For more information, call Marge Rowe at 727-781-0745.

Field Trips - All field trips are open to the public and most are free. Van trips involve sharing van rental expenses and require a reservation 3 days before the trip. Overnight trips involve additional costs for lodging and travel and also require reservations. In all cases, a contact is noted who can provide additional details. When the meeting place is Tri City Shopping Center, assemble outside the Party City store near US Rt. 19. When the meeting place is Countryside Shopping Town, assemble outside the Sears store near US Rt. 19. Where there are no bathroom facilities at the field trip site, the trip is marked X; rest stops will be provided en route. For all trips please bring drinking water.

LONG DAY TRIP - Saturday, 4-21, 7 a.m. - Circle-B-Bar Ranch: eagles, other raptors and songbirds; water birds and alligators in former cattle ranch in xeric oak habitat and on the shores of Lake Hancock. 3.5 miles sand trail. Wednesday, 4-25, 7:30 a.m. - Honeymoon Island State Park: Wading, water and shore birds plus migratory songbirds and raptors. 2 - 3 mile walk on sand trails and pavement. Meet in parking lot behind McDonald's Alt. 19 and Curlew Rd. Contact Merle Hubbard: 727-939-1549.

Saturday, 4-28, 7 a.m. - Ft. DeSoto: Migratory songbirds, raptors, water and shorebirds. Causeway and shore line drive, plus 1-2 mile walk at mouth of Tampa Bay. Meet Tri-City Shopping Center. Contact Bill Stokes: 727-403-3571.
