CLEARWATER - Betty Leiby, a 20-year resident of On Top of the World and a community service volunteer, has completed 25 years of Civitan leadership and service. Originally Betty served as president of her Michigan Civitan Club. After moving and transferring to the Clearwater Civitan Club, she served as outstanding president of the club on two difference occasions.
Since arriving in Clearwater, Betty has been a regular leader and participant in the various Civitan projects from fundraising, selling Claxton Fruitcake, Entertainment Books, citrus fruit, to working Civitan garage sales. Hands on activities include Paint Your Heart Out in Safety Harbor, Sunrise Easter Service, greeting and ushering at the annual service at On Top of the World and the annual Children's Health Fair.
Betty is currently Club Director and one of three trustees of the Clearwater Civitan Educational Fund. She has also served as club secretary, and treasurer a number of times and most recently as the Civitan Sunshine District registrar.
Betty and her husband, Carl, also a 25 year plus member of Civitan, have been leading the Wheels on Meals volunteers who participate at On Top of the World.
Betty is now one of the seven 25-year members of the distinguished Civitan Club about to celebrate 55 years of service to the Upper Pinellas area.
President Fred Novo-Mesky presented a commerative plaque from Civitan International to Betty at the April 3rd meeting.
