LARGO - On four consecutive Fridays Dr. Michael Blauner, from the Pinellas Opera League, will examine the elements of comedies in opera, at a Brown Bag and Snack lunch, at the Largo Library from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., on the following Fridays in April and May.
- April 27 - Rossini: The Barber of Seville. Perhaps Maria Callas' greatest role. Also watch Beverly Sills charm her way out of many predicaments.
- May 4 - Rossini: The Italian girl in Algiers. A role owned by Marilyn Horne. In this production she has to share the stage with some other wonderful singing comedians.
- May 11 - Donizetti: The Elixir of Love. Watch out! Kathleen Battle and Luciano Pavarotti may make you fall in love all over again.
- May 18 - Puccini: Gianni Schicchi, the famous aria, "O mai babbino cara," is the beautiful Puccini melody, but it also is the plot's lynchpin and sets the stage for the riotous finale.
