Flame Tamers Needed for Fiery PepperFest Competitions

Does your salsa sizzle? Do you go wild with hot chilies? If so, register now to be a red-hot contestant in the amateur salsa and hot sauce competitions as part of Pinellas County's PepperFest 2007 at Sand Key Park in Clearwater.

The hottest party in town, PepperFest 2007, is on tap for Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. Saturday will heat up with the salsa competition, and Sunday is reserved for hot sauce combatants.

Whether you have a favorite family recipe or a mouthwatering personal concoction, get ready to match yourself against other worthy amateur contestants. Winners earn bragging rights along with first, second and third place trophies. Visitors get in on the action by voting for their favorite entries in a People's Choice Award category. Participation is free but limited to 30 entrants on each day.

Registration forms are available by calling Bonnie Desmond at (727) 588-4852 or by visiting www.pinellascounty.org/events and clicking on the PepperFest page.

PepperFest 2007 promises two days of free family fun while celebrating the hot cuisine we all know and love. Cooking demonstrations, vendors, cook-off and restaurant samples heat up the fun. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be offered for those with gentler appetites. Live music and children's activities make PepperFest the hot place to be in June.

Sand Key Park is located at 1060 Gulf Blvd. in Clearwater. For more information, call (727) 588-4852 or visit www.pinellascounty.org/events.
