The Tarpon Springs Historical Society presents Brenda Dorsett as the featured speaker at its April 26 meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting takes place at the Depot Museum, 160 East Tarpon Avenue in Tarpon Springs. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
A veteran teacher of Social Studies in Pinellas County schools for nearly 30 years, Mrs. Dorsett will speak about the era of the 1960s in America and how it played out in Tarpon Springs. Through research undertaken by reading local newspapers published during the 1960s as well as by conducting interviews with Tarponites who were part of the community during that period, Mrs. Dorsett
will paint a picture of how Tarpon Springs reacted to the issues of importance that made the 1960s unique.
Mrs. Dorsett's current interests are traveling throughout the United States and Canada researching historical events and places. Her main focus is African American, World, and United States history.
