Safari Night to Benefit Children Exposed to Abuse and Neglect

TAMPA - Each year, more than three million child abuse and neglect reports are filed in the United States. Abuse can permanently alter the health of the child. Yet, current therapeutic interventions are highly effective at reducing lasting negative effects.

Directions for Mental Health, Inc., a private non-profit mental health organization in Clearwater, is leading the way to help abused and neglected children in Pinellas County. To help maintain their support programs, an annual benefit will be held on Friday, April 27, 6:30 p.m. - 11 p.m., at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, 36750 US Highway 19 N., in Palm Harbor. Ernest Hooper, columnist for the St. Petersburg Times will emcee the event. Tickets are $95 each ($850 table of 10). Dress: Business Casual or Safari Attire.

Proceeds from Safari Night will benefit Directions' programs with effective treatment for children exposed to trauma. The adventurous evening will include a fabulous dinner, a silent auction, live band, a program with community awards, client stories and a renowned keynote speaker.

Corporate sponsorships, silent auction items and cash donations are needed. Interested businesses and individuals can contact Kay Guenther for reservations and additional information at (727) 524-4464, ext. 1700 or via e-mail kay.guenther@directionsmh.org.
