INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - Creative Art Camp promises to be an exciting array of arts and crafts May 21 through July 27 at the Beach Art Center.
The Creative Arts eight-week long camp will be comprised of one-week sessions. Some of the exciting projects will include constructing Colonial weathervanes, self-portraits, wild wind kites and polymer clay funky bottles.
Students will explore printing methods with various gadgets, and try their hand at tie-dye art. Paper projects will include marbling, papier mache masks, and using crepe paper in mixed media projects. Cartooning and photography will be combined in hand-tinting students own photographs. Techniques of sponging, brush techniques and various media exploration will be used on keepsakes that will always bring back fond memories of this summer art experience.
This highly creative program is geared to developing young creative talent into a lifelong love of the arts and providing a foundation of basic art knowledge and use of various media.
The camp is for ages 7 - 12. It is a 9 a.m. - noon program. The fee is $95 per week. A child may enroll for multiple weeks. A $10 materials fee is charged. A snack is provided.
Clay Classes are offered in 2-week sessions, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. - noon for ages 7-11. For ages 12-15 the time is 1 - 4 p.m. Students will learn all aspects of hand-building, to use glazes, the extruder and slab-roller. Older students will learn the use of the "wheel". Clay classes accept no more than six students per session. The fee for each session is $95 plus a $20 materials fee which covers clay, glazes and firing. A snack is served.
