Fun 'N Sun Festival Parade - The parade will begin at 7 p.m. at Crest Lake Park, at Cleveland St. and Highland Ave., heads west along Cleveland St. through downtown and ends at Prospect Ave. The highlight of the festival and the original event of the first Fun 'N Sun Festival 54 years ago, the parade remains one of Clearwater's most popular events for people of all ages. This year's parade will be an action-packed adventure, filled with colorful floats, Pirate Krewes, bands, and clowns.
Saturday, May 5
Brunch with the Birds - Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane. Starts promptly at 8 a.m. Enjoy a morning walk throughout the park. Staff from Moccasin Lake Nature Park will guide walkers and locate and identify various birds that reside in the park. After the walk everyone is treated to a continental brunch at the park. Admission is $5.
7th Annual Sand Sculpting Contest at Clearwater Beach - Pier 60 area from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Categories with prizes for each participant. Trophics awarded to winners. Admission is free.
2nd Annual Pet Fair at City Hall, Downtown Clearwater from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. An event for pet lovers of all ages. Featuring a doggie fashion show, pet look-alike contest, puppy races, dog training demonstration, the Pinellas County Animobile, Pet Rescue organizations, Unique Pet items and more. Food and drink vendors will be available. Concession will be available. Admission is free.
Clearwater Historical Society Fish Fry at Ross Norton Recreation Complex, 1426 S. M. L. King Ave. from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Proceeds from this event go toward the upkeep of the historical Plumb House located on S. Greenwood Ave. Admission is $8 per person.
Clearwater Horseshoe Club Tournament at Ed Wright Park, 1326 S. M. L. King, Jr. Ave. at 9 a.m. Admission is $20 per person, NHPA membership required. Spectators free.
Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6
Disc Golf Tournament - Pro Division at NE Coachman Park, corner of Old Coachman Rd. and N.E. Coachman Rd. Two (2) rounds. Tea times 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Players' meeting at 9:30 a.m. Admission is $60, $5 non-PDGA members.
