The Clearwater Yacht Club held its annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremonies on April 28. The event was sponsored by the BLUE GAVEL Chapter of CYC Past Commodores. Distinguished guests included the Clearwater High School U.S. Marine Corps ROTC Color Guard, CYC Flag Officers (Commodore Andy Spetz, Vice Commodore Gene Fleming, Rear Commodore Barrie Gustard) and Piper Dr. Pat Snair.

Opening ceremonies consisted of drill and presentation of colors by the Clearwater High School USMC ROTC Color Guard and included the Pledge of Allegiance and playing of the National Anthem. Following the Blessing of the Wreath and Invocation by the Fleet Chaplain, Monsignor Edward Mulligan, approximately 30 dressed vessels departed the docks under music of Anchors Aweigh and returned with offering of flowers and placing of the wreath.

Special recognition and striking of the bell for each of the nine shipmates who have passed away during the year also highlighted this memorable event.
