Beach Walk Construction Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Beach Walk Construction is moving along. Drainage work to increase the size of the pipe that penetrates the seawall on Fifth and Third streets continues.

Westra Construction will pave the eastbound side of South Gulfview Boulevard from Hamden Drive to the Hess Station between May 23 and May 25, after completing utility work there. One lane is open for traffic in each direction. The north end of Coronado will be paved on May 17 or 18, and Fifth Street will be paved on or about May 25. Re-striping, landscaping, tree grates, signage and driveway connections will continue for a short time after the final traffic patterns are in place by the end of May.

In early June, Nelson Construction expects to reopen the Pier 60 parking lot, and a new traffic signal will be fully operational at that time.

The next Hard Hat Meeting is 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, at Frenchy's South Beach Café, 351 South Gulfview Blvd. The targeted completion date for the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk or call 562-4681 for more information.
