According to the American Cancer Society, approximately one in eight women has a chance of developing invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. But thanks to early detection through regular mammograms and effective treatment, the five-year survival rate has improved to 98 percent.
With a majority of its 60,000 independent sales force and 12 million annual customer base comprised of women, The Pampered Chef® dedicates the month of May to Help Whip Cancer.
"Everyone knows someone - a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend - who has been affected by breast cancer," said Doris Christopher, founder and chairman of The Pampered Chef. "Because Mother's Day is in May, we chose this month to celebrate all the women in our lives and remind everyone about this important cause."
Help Whip Cancer with Education
Each May, Pampered Chef® Independent Consultants educate millions of people across the United States on breast cancer awareness through the company's Help Whip Cancer® campaign. Consultants provide one-on-one education through Special Fundraiser Cooking Shows and Educational materials to get people talking about early detection, regular screenings and mammograms.)
"Thanks to support from programs such as The Pampered Chef's Help Whip Cancer campaign we are making strides in breast cancer," said Joanne Pike, Employer Initiative group leader for the American Cancer Society. "Together we can save lives by raising funds and awareness for breast cancer education and early detection programs."
Raise Funds with a Cooking Show Fundraiser
Since 2000, The Pampered Chef® has contributed more than $5 million to the American Cancer Society. The Pampered Chef invites people to host a Help Whip Cancer® Fundraiser Cooking Show. Guests can taste delicious recipes and receive valuable cooking and entertaining tips from an experienced Consultant while raising money for breast cancer awareness and early detection.
This year, The Pampered Chef has increased its contributions for Help Whip Cancer Fundraisers up to 25 percent, based on sales. A contribution of $1 will go to the American Cancer Society for every pink-themed kitchen tool purchased from The Pampered Chef® in May.
