CLEARWATER BEACH - To celebrate 14 years on Clearwater Beach, Cooters Raw Bar & Restaurant will host a three-day tent party for friends, visitors, and area residents. The weekend event will include live bands, special theme menus, food and drink specials, free prizes, balloons and face painting for the kids, and raffles for flat screen televisions.
The celebration kicks off Friday, May 18th, at 6 p.m., with a pig roast, live music by local band Stone Door, and prizes throughout the evening.
Saturday's festivities include a clam bake, Margaritaville drink specials and Florida band, The Burners, starting at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, Cooters has planned a "backyard barbecue", complete with barbecued ribs, baked beans and traditional barbecue fare. Inz Swimwear, Inc. will present a swimwear fashion show at 4:30 p.m., and Tampa band Cosmic Voodoo will provide the musical entertainment beginning at 5 p.m.
"This party is our way of giving back to the community," said Jay Ross, General Manager of Cooters. "We are truly grateful for all our loyal customers who have frequented Cooters over the years. We owe a great deal to them for our tremendous success, and look forward to many more years of seafood, steaks and fun at Cooters."
Another way Cooters Restaurant is giving back to the community is their partnership with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of dolphins, otters and sea turtles. During the months of April through October, sea turtles migrate to Florida beaches for mating and nesting purposes. One of the goals of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is to help protect the turtles that come to the gulf beaches.
Cooters (whose name originates from a Southern slang term for turtle) is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a 32" flat screen TV, with proceed profits being donated to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Three TVs will be raffled. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10, and can be purchased at both Cooters and The Marine Aquarium between now and May 20th.
The drawings for the TVs will be held at Cooters during the party. One TV will be raffled each day. Winners need not be present to win.
