Summer Read 'N' Play Program at the Tarpon Springs Library

TARPON SPRINGS - Read 'N' Play gives children the opportunity to read out loud to teen volunteers for a minimum time of 20 minutes every Friday during the months of June and July, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by playing an educational/reading board game with the teen volunteer. The library will keep a record of each child's reading time during the 8-week program. Each child who reads for a minimum of 120 minutes by the end of the summer, may invite his or her family to a special "Reading Celebration" on August 2nd at the Library.

Each child's accomplishment will be celebrated with an evening of fun, entertainment, prizes and refreshments.

Contact the Library's youth department to register and for more information at (727) 943-4922.

Read 'N' Play is a program to encourage children to continue reading independently through the summer months. Research shows that children who read at least 20 minutes a day, five times each week, not only maintain their reading skills over the summer, but can actually improve their reading skills as well.
