CLEARWATER - Award-winning singer/songwriter, Shana Banana, will perform at Clearwater libraries to kick-off the summer programs:
* Monday, June 4, 2 p.m., at Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave.
* Tuesday, June 5, 2 p.m., at Countryside Library, 2741 S.R. 580
* Wednesday, June 6, 11 a.m., at North Greenwood Library, 905 N. MLK Jr., Ave.
* Thursday, June 7, 2 p.m. ,at East Library, 2251 Drew St.
Shana Banana's shows and songs encompass a variety of themes, including reading, movement, imagination, the ocean, the environment, and acceptance of others. She presents songs and stories from other cultures, from Japanese to Caribbean to American Indian, and encourages kids to learn simple foreign language words and numbers. Shana has earned Parents' Choice and NAPPA awards, Kids First! endorsement, 2000-2001 nominations for Campus Activities Family and Children's Entertainer of the Year, and an invitation to perform at the White House.
