The floral arrangement pictured above was created by Dona Leach. Her entry in the Clearwater Garden Club's recent standard flower show featured a white boot filled with giant sunflowers, with a length of rope and a red bandana serving as accents. Her creation was awarded a blue ribbon by the judges. It also took first place in the novice division. Leach is one of the newest members of the garden club and it was her first flower show. There were some 150 entries altogether, according to show chair Marion Crane. Participants included members of garden clubs throughout the Tampa Bay area. Liz Buchanan, Arlene Wich and Joan Garrison were blue ribbon winners in the horticulture division. The Horticulture Award of Excellence went to Ophelia Rosati. Dorothy Bornemann received the Top Award for cut specimens. The Petite Award in the design division was won by Marsha Clark. Jean Columbo's potted orchids were awarded blue ribbons in the blooming plants category. Crane said she was very pleased with the quality of entries this year.
