Clearwater's Water Division Receives Water Treatment Plant Award

CLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater's Public Utilities Department was selected to receive the 2007 Outstanding Water Treatment Plant of the Year Class "B" Award from the Florida Section American Water Works Association (FS AWWA) for operational excellence in the category of Class B water treatment plants.

This competitive award honors one water treatment facility in the state of Florida each year in the Class B category. In order to qualify, AWWA investigates the following operational parameters: operator training, water quality, emergency preparedness, system security, community and public relations, and customer service. Clearwater is recognized for its overall operational excellence.

Clearwater's reverse osmosis water treatment plan began operation in late 2003 and produces 1.5 million gallons of drinking water per day.
