Voter List Maintenance Completed June 4

The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections completed a voter list maintenance on the evening of June 4. (List maintenance procedures are outlined in section 98.065 of the State of Florida's Election Laws, which are available in PDF format at http://election.dos.state.fl.us/publications/pdf/2006_election_laws.pdf )

According to the state statutes, "The Supervisor must designate as inactive all voters who have been sent an address confirmation notice and who have not returned the postage prepaid, preaddressed return form within 30 days or for which an address confirmation notice has been returned as undeliverable."

It continues: "If the voter does not update his or her voter registration information, request an absentee ballot, or vote by the second general election after being placed on the inactive list, the voter's name shall be removed from the statewide voter registration system and the voter shall be require to reregister to have his or her name restored to the statewide voter registration system."

Election offices update their lists a minimum of each odd-numbered year, no later than 90 days before any federal election.

After the voter list was updated on June 4, these were the results:

  • 1,203 voters were made inactive
  • 648 address confirmation requests will be mailed
  • 895 address confirmation final notices will be mailed

The voter list will be updated next on July 10. For updated voter totals in Pinellas County, go to www.votepinellas.com.
