Highland Treasure Hunt Attracts Young PiratesPhotos/text by Sandi Fahy
"Pirates" of all ages flocked to the Highland Family Aquatic Center in Largo on June 23 for Splash's Treasure Hunt, an afternoon of swimming, games and a search for hidden prizes. Above, a tiny pirate by the name of Riley Hordern meets lifeguards (from left) Marcus Pezzuti, Dan Patterson, Jessica Lebohner and Gabrielle Lewis. Costumed members of Ye Mystic Krewe of the Santa Margarita were on hand for the event, passing out strands of gold-colored beads to youngsters as they arrived. The Krewe, Chick-Fil-A and Rita's Italian Ice of Largo contributed hot dogs and other refreshments for the event.

Hunts were scheduled according to age, so younger children would have the same opportunity as older children to find the various "treasures" waiting to be discovered.
