Subject: The Way I See It column

I was really shocked and amused to read the May 24 paper in which you take on Jimmy Carter You admitted and I quote that "BOTH CARTER AND BUSH WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS MEDIOCRE PRESIDENTS; IN FACT, MAYBE TWO OF OUR WORST."

This comes from a man who has defended George Bush on numerous occasions in the past few years when other people, especially Democrats, criticized him. I am a Republican, and I admit I voted for Bush in 2000, but not in 2004. I have wished many times that I had voted for Al Gore. Maybe if several thousand Floridians, who voted for Bush, had voted for Gore, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in.

We have spent over $550 BILLION in Iraq and Afghanistan, and what has it gotten us. Think how much that money would buy helping our needy citizens, securing our borders, improving our national park system, building new highways, and especially coming up with alternative fuels so that we would not be dependent on the Arabs, including Saudi Arabia, for oil.

I am not impressed with the front runners in BOTH parties for the upcoming national election. I think Mayor Bloomberg would be a better choice, but we will probably end up with another George Bush or Jimmy Carter.
