Civil Air Patrol Offers Volunteer OpportunitiesCivil Air Patrol has many volunteer opportunities in which you can choose to participate as a "civilian" volunteer: Aerospace Education - Emergency Services - and helping to train today's young people. The Cadet Program - Youth 12 to 21 years old train to learn about aviation and aerospace. The program also includes technical skills and leadership training. Academic and flight scholarships totaling over $250,000 dollars are available to CAP cadets every year. The Emergency Services Program - Primarily an adult effort that focuses on performing 95 percent of the inland search and rescue missions - here in the continental United States. In Florida - that can include flying hurricane damage assessment missions and participating in the aftermath recovery efforts. You Can Be A Volunteer - Civil Air Patrol was created (by an Act of Congress) as the official civilian Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. As such, we are afforded the privilege of wearing the U.S. Air Force uniform (but with distinctive insignia changes). You can get more information by visiting the National Web site at www.cap.gov - or visit the Florida Web site at www.flwg.us. If you would like to speak with someone locally - call 727-375-1511 and speak with Major Ron Danielson.
