Second Annual "All Release" Tampa Bay Tarpon Rodeo to be held July 14

Tierra Verde - Tampa Bay Watch will again host the Ed Alber ALL RELEASE tarpon tournament with cash prizes totaling $5000! Fans of the famed "silver king" will enjoy wide-open conditions as they fish their favorite spots anywhere throughout Tampa Bay to one mile offshore running north between Redington Fishing Pier and south to Longboat Pass. The Ed Alber Tarpon Rodeo is an honor tournament with winners to be determined by the number of hooked and legally released fish.

The cost is $200 per angler, with two person minimum / four person maximum on each boat. Cash prizes of $ 3,500 and $ 1,500 for the first and second place respectively. Separate shark division winner will receive a flat screen HDTV.

The tournament festivities will be held at Tampa Bay Watch's Marine Education facility on Friday, July 13, with registration at 6 p.m., an anglers' dinner, catered by Outback Steakhouse at 7 p.m., and a Captains' meeting at 8 p.m.

The main event gets underway Saturday, July 14th, with the fishing beginning at 6:30 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. The Awards Ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Ft. DeSoto boat ramp picnic area.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Tampa Bay Watch, Inc., a non profit environmental organization active in protecting and restoring Tampa Bay and educating the community about environmental stewardship "Tampa Bay Watch has always supported catch and release fishing tournaments," says Executive Director Peter Clark. "Funds generated by the Tampa Bay Tarpon Rodeo will be used to restore habitats such as oyster beds and salt marsh that will enhance our future fisheries resources."
