Some of the participants in last year's Fishing Contest at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center were caught on camera as they cast their lines into the Intracoastal Waterway behind the facility located at 69 Bay Esplanade on Clearwater Beach. This year's event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 19. Youngsters ages 6 to 12 are invited to participate. Bait and equipment will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish caught, smallest fish caught and most fish caught. All of the fish reeled in will be released back into the water. Cost is $1.50 with Play Pass, $2 with recreation card, $2.50 without card. For more information, call 462-6138.
