Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterHead out to the beach and you'll see that work on Phase II of the Beach Walk project is well underway. Now that the Pier 60 parking lot is open, the north end of the South Gulfview parking lot is closed. There are also temporary parking lots on the west side of Coronado Drive. For safety reasons, pedestrians can only access South Clearwater Beach from Pier 60, or from south of the Barefoot Beach House. South Gulfview Boulevard remains closed to traffic from Coronado Drive to First Street. Those wishing to access businesses on South Gulfview Boulevard can go north from Fifth Street. Stores and restaurants are open and welcoming customers. While some road closures are needed, businesses are open and our white sands are warm and welcoming. So come for a visit, but please slow down when driving in the construction zones. The next Hard Hat Meeting will be 9 a.m., August 21 at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk or call 562-4681 if you have questions. |
