The Way I See ItBy cj pollickStrong Mayor Form Of Government - One citizen asked why a strong mayor form of government would be good for Clearwater. Here are a few good reasons for a strong mayor form of government:
Currently, the mayor's office in Clearwater is ceremonial. In order to give the alleged top office in Clearwater some teeth, the mayor needs to become the CEO. Yes, it would require a larger pay and benefits. That should not be a problem; that CEO money would come from staff cuts. If fact, if anyone wanted to become mayor of Clearwater, he/she would need to bring some good educational credentials to the election. Citizens would expect good results - - just like St. Petersburg. How could all of this happen? Public referendum. Let the people of Clearwater decide what is best for Clearwater's future. Belleair Beach Bridge - If you drive across the Belleair Beach Bridge, you know that construction progress on the new, high-rise bridge is on schedule. The pillars are going-up at a steady rate and a visual picture of the eastern-side bridge entrance is becoming more evident. At the end of the day, this new causeway bridge will be another showpiece in the replacement process of old "basqule" style bridges. City Of Indian Rocks Beach - Why does the City of Indian Rocks Beach have trouble finding an experienced city manager? Are there internal problems at Indian Rocks Beach that most citizens are unaware? Time will tell. However, the search continues at Indian Rocks Beach for an experienced city manager. U.S. Congress At Its Lowest Rating - The Democrat-controlled U.S. Congress recently was honored with a lower confidence rating than President George Bush. American voters are clearly frustrated with Democrats and Republicans in elected office. Voters clearly do not trust either political party to enforce laws regarding illegal immigration or a host of other important national issues. The result? A third political party. It should not surprise voters to notice growing support for a third political party. A party where old, out-dated political platforms can be tossed in favor of more common-sense stands on important issues, like social security, illegal immigration, taxes, etc. A third political party? Get ready, it's coming. (And, none too soon.) The People's Party of America (for legal Americans.) Good-bye Bush, good-bye Hillary and Obama, good-bye Ted Kennedy, good-bye days when special interest groups controlled elections. Who does not support- a political party of the people, for the people and by the people? Michael Vick Doesn't Get It - Most folks who follow NFL football would agree that Atlanta Falcon quarterback Michael Vick is one talented athlete. However, the same people would agree that Michael Vick also gets himself involved in some of the most outrageous things - - it's almost like he feels above other people. Vick's latest personal tryst has him involved in pit bull dog fighting. Yes, Vick is in big trouble, again. If Vick somehow hires good attorneys who might plea-bargain a deal to allow Vick to continue to make millions of dollars playing NFL football while paying a small fine of some sort, he would be one lucky fellow. Such an event is probable for this football superstar, but it will cost Vick money and future endorsements? Bottom line? Vick doesn't get it and never will. Imagine what would happen to Michael Vick if he wasn't a super athlete in the NFL? Michael Vick NFL football shirts? Great athlete, Michael Vick, but one strange fellow. After all, what message is Vick sending to other young talented athletes? Success - Success comes in cans, failure comes in can'ts. - Henry Ford |
