
Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin and Clothes to Kids Provide Back to School Backpacks for StudentsCLEARWATER - At a back to school fair held last week, over 130 school age children received backpacks filled with school supplies from the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin and a week's worth of clothing from Clothes to Kids. More than 120 JLCD members and community partners donated school supplies, volunteer time and over $4000 in cash to help fill the backpacks. Sponsors and/or donors for the back to school fair included Publix, Water Boy Spring Water, Sam's Club, Chick-Fil-A, Monograms Plus, Drs. Carl & Mark Johnson, DDS, PCTA Learning Co-op, Einstein Bagels, Sweet Tomatoes, Chick-Fil-A, Florida Graphics, Pinellas Reading Council, GFWC Clearwater Junior Women's Club, Lightning Foundation, Wal Mart, Rotary Club of Clearwater, Rotary Club of Clearwater East and the Atlanta Bread Company. "It was a great event and I know everyone was really excited to do it. It was also fun seeing the kids' faces when they got all of their stuff from the Junior League and Clothes to Kids," said Nola Johnson, an active member of the Junior League and one of the organizers of the event. "The outpouring of support for these children was unbelievable and we are thrilled with the event's success!" The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving its community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. In Pinellas County the JLCD was instrumental in establishing projects such as the Community Pride Daycare facility, Heritage Village and the F.U.N. Bus, a project currently serving children in public school.
