Largo Medical Center CEO Named Chamber Chairman-Elect

LARGO - Richard "Ricky" Satcher, president and chief executive officer of Largo Medical Center, has been elected Chairman-Elect of the Largo/Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce. He will begin his term as Chairman of the Board on Oct. 1. He replaces Chairman-Elect Edna Higgins, former president of Remington College who relocated earlier in the year to a new position in Arkansas.

Satcher arrived at Largo Medical Center as president and CEO in January 2006 following more than three years at the helm of St. Petersburg General Hospital. Both hospitals are owned by Nashville-based HCA, the nation's largest hospital company. He began working for HCA in April 1989 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, S.C. He remained with ARMC after the facility was sold to Universal Health Services in 1995 until 2002. He returned to HCA when he was named president and CEO of St. Petersburg General in May 2002.

"We are extremely pleased and excited that Ricky will be leading our Chamber during the next year," says current Chairman George Glover, president of Bay Star Hotel Group of Tampa "The organization is riding a wave of growth and activity and his strong background and commitment to the community is sure to further strengthen the Chamber's role in our region."

Satcher's first duty as chairman-elect will be conducting the Chamber's Leadership Session on August 24 to develop the organization's new program year business plan. He will introduce his goals and objectives during the Chamber's 55th Annual Banquet on Monday, Sept. 17 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort.
