Historical Society Keeps Plumb House Going

Clearwater Historical Society members (from left) Bob Delack, Shirley Galatas and Mike Sanders are pictured at the historic Plumb House Museum, which the society maintains at 1380 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The house, built circa 1896, was once home to Clearwater's first paid public school teacher. It is open to the public from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month through November 2. Admission is free. Persons interested in supporting the society's efforts to preserve the city's historic sites and heritage are invited to join the group. Individual memberships are $10. Additional tour guides will be needed starting in November, when the museum will be once again be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 446-4250 for more information.
