Why Are the Polar Ice Caps Melting Where Greenhouse Gasses are the Thinnest?Conducting interviews on the CO2/Greenhouse Gas/Global Warming Theory is the founder of EnvironmentalManiac.com Chris Slotten. We have been told about and shown pictures of the polar ice caps melting. We have been told that the polar bears are in danger and that low-lying areas are going to flood. We have been told that there is an urgency that requires extreme actions. This has all been offered as validation of the CO2/Greenhouse Gas/Global Warming Theory. A quick look at science. First, 95 percent of greenhouse gas is water vapor. CO2 makes up less than .05 percent of our atmosphere and man's contribution is less than 10 percent or .005 percent of the atmosphere. (That's a nickel up against a $1,000 bill). The majority of all greenhouse gas, including CO2, comes from the oceans. Oceans make up 78 percent of the planet and populated area about 11 percent. The oceans exhale greenhouse gas when they get hot and inhale when they cool. Second, all Greenhouse Gasses are in the Troposphere. The Troposphere extends from the Earth out about 12 miles at the equator and 4 miles at the poles during summer. The Troposphere at the poles during winter is indistinct. (Supports the "oceans exhale when they're hot" concept). Why are the Polar Icecaps melting where the greenhouse gasses are the thinnest? Are we missing something important? What has the thickness of the Troposphere been at the poles over the last 50 years? How does Troposphere thickness correlate with ocean temperature? Have there been any recorded annual temperatures trending higher that are away from the oceans? Where? Is there a pattern? (Summer temperatures trending higher without annual temperatures trending higher doesn't make sense to me either, unless the temperature connection is with the sun). Take a deep breath. The Earth is well within her standard deviation. During the Medieval Warm Period, 900 years ago, Greenland was green; vineyards grew north of London and all of Europe flourished. During the Mini Ice Age, 1300-1600 A.D., things were nasty. Glaciers wiped out entire villages. Starvation was rampant. And, there is no scientific trending in temperature of radiant energy in Phoenix or Miami over the last 8 years. I looked. Atlas-MTS is "A Global leader in Weathering Testing & Equipment". Their web site has daily temperature and radiant energy readings since 2000 for Phoenix and Miami. Global Warming is happening. It may not even be bad. We need to make sure that we don't create bigger environmental problems while attempting to solve this one. The Compact Florescent Light may be an example. Most CFLs contain 5 mg of mercury, but that's a different topic. Just remember, we only have one Earth. She cannot take abuse forever. Nor can we overlook the reason we want to save the Earth . . .
