Stewart, MD, DFAPA, AGSF of Bay Pines VA Medical Center on August 22, from 2 - 3 p.m. Dr. Jonathan T. Stewart is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society. Dr. Stewart currently serves as Chief of the Geropsychiatry Section at Bay Pines VA Medical Center, and a Professor at the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine. He specializes in geriatric psychiatry, dementia and the behavioral manifestations of neurological illnesses. The most common dementia among the elderly is Alzheimer's disease, but not all dementias are of the Alzheimer's type, even though there are similar symptoms and behaviors. Behavioral problems are commonly misunderstood and misdiagnosed. For proper treatment and management, it is important to distinguish between the different types of non-Alzheimer's dementias.
