Beach Walk Construction Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Progress on Phase II of Beach Walk is nearing completion. Sometime next week the temporary fencing that runs along the beach will be removed from Pier 60 south to the lifeguard station, and the beachside promenade will open there. The week after that, the fencing from the lifeguard station to the Barefoot Beach House will be moved to the east side of the beachside promenade.

Beach Walk construction south of the Barefoot Beach House will begin in September. Construction work on the Hyatt Aqualea has also commenced. This means increased activity in these areas. Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use extra caution in all construction zones and to obey posted speed limits.

The PSTA bus stop on Gulfview Boulevard, south of Fifth Street is temporarily being moved to Bayway Boulevard near the Hess Station. Passengers using the PSTA Suncoast Trolley that runs from St. Pete Beach to Clearwater Beach will be able to transfer to Bus #80 that goes to the mainland and points north at that location.

The next Hard Hat Meeting is Tuesday, October 2, 9:30 a.m. at the Marriott Suites on Sand Key, 1201 Gulf Blvd. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk or call 562-4681 if you have questions.
