Backwaters Celebrates Seven Year Anniversary

On August 22nd the skies were clear and a slight breeze turned an otherwise normal hot day into a grand celebration for Backwater's seventh anniversary. Several hundred people turned out for the annual bash featuring a southern seafood boil. The complimentary menu included gulf shrimp, fresh mussels, clams and crawfish. The pots boiled with crabs legs, smoked sausage, red potatoes and corn on the cob. Chef Mark Carey's annual anniversary chowder was, as usual, a big hit.

The crowd enjoyed seven years of pictures and videos of previous celebrations on the television screens. Many people watched their pictures from previous years as hairlines receded and belt sizes increased!

Backwaters has been the premier waterfront location for Black Angus steaks and fresh Florida seafood since opening in 2000. Few menu's around the area can boast the quality and freshness of true gulf grouper and locally caught seasonal fish such as tripletail, hogfish, yellowtail snapper, wahoo and cobia. Charbroiled steak favorites include a butter blackened New York strip that is a Backwaters signature dish.

Besides the reputation for great food, Backwaters is one of the few restaurants that can boast long term employees that turn your dining experience into almost a family experience. Chef Mark, Mckenna Lynnzey, Beverage Manager, Christopher Thomas, Manager, and Chris Robilino, Sous Chef, lead the staff.
