Cleveland Street Streetscape Updateprovided by the City of Clearwater
The Cleveland Street Streetscape project is now 80 percent complete, as crews begin to wrap up work in the third block between Garden and East avenues. Forms for concrete curbing are being installed at the intersection of Cleveland Street and East Avenue while other workers are completing irrigation and electrical work along both sidewalks throughout the block. Pavers are being installed in front of the U.S. Post Office and a pedestrian tunnel on the north side of the street in front of the Station Square Condominium project is now open. Sidewalks on both sides of the street are open except near the East Avenue intersection. An Oct. 5 celebration is being planned for the completion of this portion of the project. Motorists are urged to observe the new traffic rules that are in effect in the completed portions of Cleveland Street from the bluff to Garden Avenue. They include no right turn at Fort Harrison Avenue and Cleveland Street for eastbound travelers, no u-turn at Cleveland Street and Osceola Avenue for westbound travelers and no trucks on Cleveland Street through the downtown area. Except for the block of the streetscape that is currently under construction, all roads and intersections in the area remain open. In addition, commercial establishments remain open. Patrons may take advantage of two hours of free parking in the Garden Avenue Garage, additional parking along Osceola Avenue between the Main Library and Cleveland Street, and designated parking spaces on Cleveland Street from Osceola to Ft.
