Clearwater Civitan Club Donates $10,000 to Help the Homeless
Clearwater Civitan was the conduit for a $10,000 individual gift to the Homeless Emergency Project Inc. (H.E.P.). In so doing, the Clearwater Civitan Club became one of the prime sponsors of the Otis C. Green Memorial Golf Tournament, to be held Friday, October 12, at the Belleair County Club. This donation was attracted by the dollar for dollar, matching donation, promised by the Eckerd Family Foundation.
H.E.P. has been an ongoing Clearwater Civitan Project since 1990. The Club has since helped finance H.E.P. Children's Christmas Party, helped finish and furnish one of the rooms in the transient wing, volunteered in the office, and volunteered in the unique Boutique resale shops.
The Club will join H.E.P. employees and volunteers working the golf course during the tournament and will have a foursome entered. The Club is also challenging neighboring service clubs in Pinellas County to enter this "Fun Project" and sponsor foursomes.
